General

What time do you open at/stay open until?

The cinema opens 1 hour before the first film. This changes often, but as a rule of thumb, we’ll always be open by 12.30. On Wednesdays and weekends we open earlier to accommodate our Parent & Baby screening which starts at 10.45.  Closing time is as soon as people have left the last film screening.

Do you have wireless internet?

Yes, we provide free wifi in almost all public spaces in the cinema, just connect to “lighthouse public”. No password is required.

Café and Bar

Do you serve alcohol?

We do. Our café serves craft beer and wine, and a larger selection of which are available in our bar.

Can I buy sweets, drinks, ice-cream or popcorn at the downstairs concession stand?

No, not at the moment but the café upstairs sells a full range of these

Is the bar open downstairs?

Yes! Our downstairs bar is now open 7 days a week from 5:30pm Mon-Fri and from 3pm on weekends. We have a range of craft beers and wines, and knowledgable bar staff to help you make your choice. We have sofas and bean bags to chill out in, and a full dining table if you feel like having a more animated conversation with friends. We also hang exhibitions in our bar, so make sure to pop in to see what's new.

Who supplies your cakes?

Fothergills Bakery and Deli in Foxrock.

Can I take coffee/beer/wine into the screen?

Yes, because we're all adults. Just ask at the bar for a paper or plastic glass.

Screenings

Why do some films not have a rating?

Some films are not classified by the classification office, which means they don’t have an age cert. In order to watch these films at Light House Cinema, you must join our club. Joining is simple – just provide us with your name and email address at the box office. All Club films are 18+.

What is a club movie? / Can under 18s attend a Club movie?

See above.

What is a Parent and Baby screening?

Parent and Baby screenings take place twice a week at the cinema – see here for details of upcoming films. These are special screenings for adults who wish to see the latest films on release and would like the option of bringing baby (typically under 18 months) along too. The lighting in the screen is kept slightly brighter than normal and the sound volume is reduced. Prams and buggies can be brought into the screen or left in a secure location outside the screen.

Venue Rental / Exhibitions / Events

Can I rent space or a screen in the Light House for an event?

Yes for corporate or businesses events. Email events@lighthousecinema.ie with your query, details of your needs and our events manager will get back to you. You can find out more about the spaces available in the cinema on our Venue hire page

Do you do exhibitions?

We don’t curate exhibitions ourselves (we’ll stick with curating the films!) but are always interested in hearing from artists, groups, schools and colleges about exhibitions for the walls. Get in touch on ideas@lighthousecinema.ie
