Celebrating Black Stories: A Black History Month Event

Join us this Black History Month at Lighthouse Cinema as we honour the powerful voices and stories of the Black community. Through film, and art, we will explore the rich heritage, resilience, and creativity that have shaped the Black experience.

In collaboration with Maona Art, a curatorial and production company that specialises in African Cinema. This event is more than a celebration—it's a moment to reflect, learn, and connect.

Together, we will shine a light on the past, acknowledge the present, and inspire a brighter future by amplifying the diverse stories that continue to shape our world.

We have curated an exciting experience for you, starting off the evening with networking followed by the screening of Tug of War curated by Tatenda Jamera of Maona Art. Tug of War, directed by Amil Shivji is about a rebellious young revolutionary who becomes involved with a young Indian-Zanzibari girl escaping an oppressive arranged marriage.

We will wrap up the evening with refreshment drinks to connect over our shared but unique and authentic story.
