Synopsis
In March, we like to celebrate Irish writing so this month we're reading Claire Keegan's moving novella, Small Things Like These and watching the 2024 film, adapted by Enda Walsh and starring Cillian Murphy. Small Things Like These is a drama set in 1980's Wexford, as a we follow an unassuming coal-man who gets more than he bargained for when he accidentally uncovers some dark secrets while delivering coal to the local convent. Chilling, thoughtful and ultimately hopeful, this is a moving drama that digs into the darkness of Ireland's recent history.
