Cinema Book Club: Watchmen16162 min
Synopsis
Get ready for an epic one folks! Alan Moore's Watchmen is one of the most beloved and influential graphic novels of all time. First published in 1987, Watchmen is set in an alternative 1980s world where superheroes exist and when one of the now disbanded "Watchmen" group of superhero allies is murdered they must get the team back together to uncover who did it before the same fate befalls them all. Watchmen is an exploration of the superhero genre, it's representation of heroes and villains and the human and political failings that bring about their demise. It's dense, it's violent, it's thoughtful and it's absolutely epic in scale. We'll be reading the graphic novel and watching Zack Snyder's 2009 big-screen adaptation.
Cinema Book Club is a monthly event where we read a book then watch the big screen adaptation and meet afterwards for a chat in the Light House Cinema Bar. No need to join, just buy your ticket and come along. All are welcome, even if you haven't read the book.
