George Romero is often described as the father of modern horror and in this lesser-known classic, he once again depicts a violent revolution within the heart of small-town America. When a human-made virus accidentally contaminates the local water supply, the military are brought in to contain the outbreak of homicidal behaviour. The brutal clashes between the infected and uninfected, the local community and the government soldiers capture the political divisions and home grown violence that characterised the USA in the wake of the Vietnam war and Kent State Shootings.
