Dublin City Council Luke Kelly Festival at Light House
Smithfield Square comes alive on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 May as the Dublin City Council Luke Kelly Festival returns. Celebrating the life and legacy of one of Dublin’s most iconic voices, this free,
family-friendly event is a weekend of live music, storytelling and community-led events inspired by Luke Kelly’s lasting impact on Irish culture.
The Dublin City Council Luke Kelly Festival is delighted to partner with Light House Cinema this year with two very special screenings: Dennis Harvey & Lars Lovén’s award winning feature-length music
documentary Celtic Utopia on Saturday evening at 6.30pm and In Time: Donal Lunny, a film that celebrates the lasting legacy of one of Ireland’s most iconic and influential musicians, which screens on
Sunday evening at 6:30pm.
This year’s Festival continues to honour Luke Kelly’s legacy, celebrating his influence through contemporary voices, traditional music and community storytelling. The Luke Kelly Stage will feature a
standout line-up of Irish talent across the weekend including the acclaimed stage show, The Dubliners Encore, a celebration of the music and legacy of The Dubliners, who will bring timeless classics to life. Festival attendees will be the first to discover the next generation of singers in the Irish folk tradition, as the six recipients of the Dublin City Council Luke Kelly Bursary take to the stage during the Festival.
Alongside the music performances, there’s a varied and exciting programme of activity to enjoy in Smithfield Square. From music, culture and heritage to workshops and talks. Join in the fun at the
Football Field featuring interactive inflatable games, and the Golf Corner with crazy golf and a chip shot game. Take part in a vibrant, inclusive programme of hands-on creative activities for all ages that
encourage imagination, participation and cultural connection.
The Dublin City Council Luke Kelly Festival is free to attend. Welcoming Dubliners and visitors alike to celebrate one of the city’s most iconic cultural figures in Smithfield Square, you’ll find the full programme at www.dublin.ie/lukekelly
