Dear Galway Film Society Supporter,
Galway Film Society is delighted to announce its return to Pálás for its Spring 2023 Season. The season, which starts on Sunday February 12th and Monday February 13th, will present 8 films, representing a range of new award-winning titles from around the world.
The season will kick off with screenings of French comedy-drama The Rose Maker (La Fine Fleur), a fun and charming crowd-pleaser starring Catherine Frot as an independent rose farmer who takes desperate measures to stay in business.
Other highlights include the Berlin Film Festival 2022 winner Alcarràs from Catalan director Carla Simón, whose previous debut Summer 1993 was a hit with GFS members in 2018; Jafar Panahi's latest film No Bears, which was completed shortly before his recent arrest in Iran; and the heart-warming Lunana: A Yak In The Classroom, Bhutan’s first-ever Academy Award nominee for Best International Feature.
In addition we are delighted to support emerging home-grown film talent this season by featuring two Irish short films - Small Hours, which will screen before Queen of Glory and Baths, which will screen before The Gravedigger's Wife.
