Synopsis
Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture. Miyako Aoki, who lives with her father Seishiro, is trying to figure out what she wants to do after graduating high school. Her father, who succeeded her grandfather as a highly respected tsugaru - nuri lacquerware craftsman , has lost the will to continue his business as the industry has gone into decline. Miyako’s mother and brother both have no interest in taking over the family business, and have forged their own paths through life. Miyako, however, does want to pursue one of Japan’s most traditional arts - but, to do so, she must challenge generations of tradition and strong resistance from her own father
