Galway Film Society Returns to Pálás For Autumn Season

Galway Film Society (GFS) is delighted to announce its return to Pálás for its Autumn season. After a hugely successful Spring season, with many sold-out screenings, patrons are strongly encouraged to secure tickets early!

GFS’s opening film is a Galway premier of French drama La Syndicaliste, which tells the extraordinary real-life story of Mayo-born Maureen Kearney, a senior French trade union representative-turned-whistleblower, who was forced to fight for justice.

GFS is privileged to host post film Q&A with Maureen Kearney who will also be in attendance at the pre-film reception on Sunday September 17th.

Following its World Premiere at the Venice Film Festival last year, La Syndicaliste, starring Isabelle Huppert, went on to become France’s Thriller of the Year, with over 500,000 admissions at French cinemas.

GFS’s Autumn season, will present 6 films, representing a range of new acclaimed and award-winning titles from around the world. GFS will also screen 3 short films, providing an important platform for emerging filmmakers.

Other upcoming highlights in GFS’ Autumn season include the recent Karlovy Vary International Film Festival Best Director winner Fremont; the multi-award winning Spanish drama The Beasts (As Bestas); and French dance drama Rise (En Corps), which garnered huge critical and box-office success in its native France.

GFS Sunday films will screen at 8pm and GFS Monday films will screen at 6.30pm.

GFS season tickets, at a subsidised price of €45 for 6 films, and individual film tickets, are available from Pálás.
